Organizing begats organizing

Yah so Friday I got myself a bunch of card making stuff and I came home with these grand ideas of things I wanted to make. So I got out my card stock tote. Then I got out my card making stuff tote so I could put my stuff away. I realized two things; 1. I don't have room in my totes anymore for more stuff which means I need to graduate up to a craft area of sorts. I have been eyeing every nook and cranny of my house to find a good spot to build myself a little craft desk. Or I could just sell off one of my children then I would have a craft room! Ok back to thought one a craft desk area...I have picked out a few choice spots in my house and I guessed we will see what becomes of my ideas once I pass them through management (my husband). 2. I really needed to set up a better system of organization. If you know me then you will know I am a neat freak. I have been called OCD by almost everyone I know but I just smile and say 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness' :D So I ripped into my totes and started to organize. I separated paper by color and then into size. So like take purple I have my purple 12x12 and my purple 8x11. Then I have a box of chipboard items, jar of buttons, tin of ribbons, container of adhesives with me Helmar RIGHT ON TOP (I heart you Helmar ;D), bucket of glitters and so on and so on. The problem is now I don't have room to put all this stuff back into the totes they came out of. So for now I have them all in neat little boxes and jars sitting all nicely waiting for me to place them in a crafting area. Good new tho I did make 2 more pieces for my advent calender last night while watching Storm Chasers. And I got a chance to break open my Helmar (you complete me) Liquid Scrap Dots. This stuff rocks! Alright back to my coffee and getting dressed. I am heading up to help my uncle process the 2 caribou he got yesterday while hunting. Enjoy your Sunday!

Bootay

Ok seriously how can you not have a good day when you get to go shopping for crafty stuff and come home with this. I am so excited to be able to sit down and make some sch~tuff. I hope my kids dont mind cooking, cleaning and bringing me coffee when I start to talk to the wall. HA HA HA kidding I will still take care of my kids....sometimes...and I dont talk to the wall...just the table... ;) Speaking of talking to walls I had this random thought today. My dog started barking at nothing. He was looking at the wall and barking. I then thought to myself....I said Self could you imagine what would happen to us if we acted like dogs. Like what if I just started to randomly yell at the wall or ate my poop or sniffed other peoples butts or tried to bite anyone who came close to my plate of food....I mean really!!! Think about it! I guess thats why we have the opposable thumbs. Just a thought.....

Allis costume

One of the things I love to do is make my kids Halloween costumes every year. This year my daughter said she wanted to be 'half devil and half angel' because she said thast what she is...half devil and hlaf angel and BOY do I ever agree with that statement! So out into the garage I went this morning to dig out my fabric and into costume making mode I went! Here are some pics of how things are going! I am still working on the devil side :)

Christmas cards start

Every year I handmake and I mean HANDMAKE 50 Christmas cards that I then take to North Pole, Alaska and mail out so they have the North Pole post mark. This year I started early so I wont be rushed like I usually am in November to get them all done before we drive up. I love going there every year to Santa Clause house and Fairbanks. We take our two kids, both of who still believe in Santa (my son is almost 12!). We also get to see the Christmas in Ice competition which is just amazing! I cant wait for our trip this year. So these are the cards I am making for Christmas this year. They are a fold up style so they serve as the card and the envelope. I used the Core'dinations Blue Diamonds paper which I just fell in love with. They are somewhat simple but still create a big impact.

Paper bag albums

Do you ever have that problem of saying 'no'? I seem to have that issue when it comes to crafts! A friend of mine was doing a birthday party for her little girl who was turning 10 on 10-10-10 and she wanted to have this big blow out of a party. She rented a limo and sent out the invites. She asked me for my opinion on other things she could do and I suggested mini scrapbooks for the girls. I did a little online searching for some fun ideas and I came across paper bag albums. I instantly fell in love with these. So I told my friend, I said "friend I will make these for you if you buy the stuff". Well weeks came and went and I never heard from friend. Well the Wednesday before the party friend called and said she had all the stuff for the albums. Mind you the party was on Friday...that means I had basically a day and a half to make 12 paper bag scrapbooks. I then rushed over to her house to collect the bounty and spent all day Thursday and I mean all day as in from 6 am to 12 am working on these albums. I guess one must understand my style of craft. I dont just do halfway jobs. I have to do it fully and it must look wonderful. Anyways so I spent all Thursday and half of Friday working on these books. OH YAH I forgot to put in the just say no part. While I was there picking up the book supplies she had bought some fleece to make a tie blaket for her daughter as a gift as well. She turns to me and says "Do you know how to make one of thoes tie fleece blankets, because I dont?" Then the words came from my mouth "Yes I sure do! Here let me do it!" UGH! So not only was I making books I was making a blanket all in a day and a half. OH and I forgot to mention I was also teaching my first art class on Friday to a class of 4th graders and had to prep my art papers AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. CRAZY! I was able to get the books done and to my liking, 30 art papers preped and blanket made all in a day and a half. I loved the paper bag albums and am planning on making them for the Grandparents this year for Christmas. :D
